This clause contains tables defining abbreviations used and mapping abstract names from ISO/IEC 18025 to those of this binding.

The abbreviations are based upon the abbreviation policy used in other ISO C binding standards and are used for:
function names;
data types;
macro names;
In the construction of C binding identifiers, the following policy is applied:
For function names:
“EDCS_” followed
by function name with words adjoined and the start of each word
capitalized.
Example: EDCS_ConvertQuantityValue
For data type names:
“EDCS_” followed by the data type name except for data types
for enumerated attributes and organizational schemas. In the latter cases, the
data type name is preceded by “EAC_” and “EOC_” respectively. The words of the data
type name are separated by underscores and the first letter of each word is
capitalized.
Example: EDCS_Unit_Code
For data type field names and function parameter names:
All field names and parameter names consist of words in lower case connected by underscores.
Example: dictionary_name
For macro names of macros defining codes for enumerated attribute data
types:
“EEC” followed by an abbreviation for the attribute label followed by the EDCS
label for the enumerant. The three parts are separated from each other by
underscores. The attribute label abbreviations use the abbreviations defined in
Table
5.2. All words in the label are separated by underscores and the entire
symbol name is capitalized except as stated in item j.
Example: EEC_FLRCOVTY_CARPET
For macro names of macros defining codes for organizational schema of
EDCS groups:
“EGC” followed by an abbreviation for the organizational schema label followed
by the EDCS label for the group of that organizational schema. The three parts
are separated from each other by underscores. The organizational schema label
abbreviations use the abbreviations defined in
Table
5.3. All words in the label are separated by underscores and the entire
symbol name is capitalized except as stated in item j.
Example: EGC_GEN_ABSTRACT_OBJECT
For macro names of macros defining codes for all other EDCS dictionary entires:
The dictionary name (e.g., EA) followed immediately by “C_” followed by the EDCS
label for the code. The last two parts are separated from each other by an
underscore. All words in the label are separated by underscores and the entire
symbol name is capitalized except as stated in item j.
Examples: EAC_MAGNETIC_AZIMUTH, ECC_CHIMNEY
For macro names of macros defining status codes defined in EDCS:
“EDCS” followed by “SC” followed by the label of the constant. The three parts
are separated from each other by underscores. All words in the label are
separated by underscores and the entire symbol name is capitalized.
Example: EDCS_SC_INVALID_INPUT_UNIT
For macro names of macros defining attribute value types defined in
EDCS:
“EDCS” followed by “AVT” followed by the label of the constant. The three
parts are separated from each other by underscores. All words in the label are
separated by underscores and the entire symbol name is capitalized.
Example: EDCS_AVT_STRING
For macro names of macros defining constants defined in EDCS:
“EDCS” followed by “LF” followed by the label of the constant. The three parts
are separated from each other by underscores. The “LF” indicates that the
constant is of type Long_Float. All words in the label are separated by
underscores and the entire symbol name is capitalized.
Example: EDCS_LF_PI
Digits are also preceded by underscores. When a radix point is needed in
a label, a lower case “r” will be used to represent it.
Example: EAC_STELLAR_RF_FLUX_10r7
In Table 4.2, only words from the abstract specification that are abbreviated are listed. Terms from the abstract specification that are abbreviated in the abstract specification and not further abbreviated in this binding are not listed.

In the following tables, the names are listed alphabetically by abstract name.
In Table 4.3, each row lists an abstract name of a data type from ISO/IEC 18025 followed by the corresponding bound name. In Table 4.4, each row lists a bound name followed by the abstract name of a data type from ISO/IEC 18025.
